It all went bad when Banana Republic was bought out by the GAP. Something similar happened to Abercrombie and Fitch. I love and still use the passport wallet I bought from BR in the mid-1980s. The closest thing I've found to the old BR is David Morgan, which sells a lot of Filson clothing: http://www.davidmorgan.com. I know exactly what happened.
